A Foundation Built on Compassion and Conviction

Who We Are

Founded by Jim Banks, our foundation continues his lifelong commitment to provide for the health and wellbeing of animals and children facing real-world challenges.

Jim's Vision Carried Forward

Our History

James "Jim" Banks built his life around one central belief: that professional success meant nothing if it wasn't ultimately used to help others. From early in his career, he took notice on the overlooked reality that vulnerable animals and children facing serious health issues needed support and protection. His career in business and healthcare gave him the tools to take action, and he began his commitment to understanding how to make a real difference in their lives.

Jim launched his career becoming the youngest Division President in ADP's history. He later went on to found Interactive Health Solutions in his garage in 1992 with a mission to address the American workforce struggling to care for their health and wellbeing in a culture that prioritized career above all else. For decades, he applied his entrepreneurial skill and energy to creating systems that would actually help people. It wasn't about building his own legacy. It was rooted in a core belief that compassion without resources stays incomplete.

By 2015, Jim made a deliberate choice to take everything he'd learned about creating meaningful impact and redirect it toward his deepest passions: the welfare of animals and the support for children and their families facing crisis. He established James Banks Foundation to ensure that those passions would live on beyond his own lifespan.

"Animals are more than ever a test of our character, of mankind’s capacity for empathy and for decent, honorable conduct and faithful stewardship. We are called to treat them with kindness, not because they have rights or power or some claim to equality, but in a sense because they don’t, because they all stand unequal and powerless before us."

Matthew Scully, a former literary editor of National Review and speech writer for President George W. Bush.

Jim was captivated by this quote and guided his approach towards stewardship. That same principle extended to how he viewed children and families facing hardship. They deserved protection, resources, and support, not judgment.

After Jim's passing, his vision continues through the ongoing efforts of his foundation. Every grant we provide honors the principles that drove his life: that resources should be directed toward those who need them most, and that commitment to others should be backed by genuine action. The foundation exists because Jim believed that compassion without resources stays incomplete. He chose to complete it.

Creating Relief Where It's Needed Most

Our Vision

What began as Jim's passion now lives on through the grants we provide and the lives we help improve.

We're here to fund the needs that make a real difference—the medical care that prevents suffering, the rescue operations that save lives, the family support that turns crisis into stability.

We don't seek recognition for the grants we provide. We seek organizations and families who will use funding with the same respect and conviction that Jim brought to establishing this foundation.

Our vision is simple: connect resources with needs that are urgent and meaningful, where funding creates measurable improvement in quality of life.
