Second City Canine Rescue's mission is to rescue homeless animals and responsibly place them into permanent, loving homes. We believe in rescuing responsibly. Every dog deserves more than a second chance. They deserve the right fit. That's why we take the time to understand each dog in our care and help you find the one who belongs with you.

Founded in 2011, SCCR is a nonprofit, mostly foster-based dog rescue with an adoption center in Palatine. Dogs live in foster homes or in our home-like adoption center so we can learn what they're like, what makes them happy, and what kind of life will help them thrive. We take the time to get to know each dog before they go up for adoption, offer post-adoption support including training resources, and we'll always take a dog back — no matter how long it's been.
